Fort Lauderdale-Bound Plane Blows Tire Taking Off from Philadelphia Airport (pics & videos)

A U.S. Airways plane aborted its takeoff after blowing a tire while leaving Philadelphia International Airport tonight...

The incident was reported about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. US Airways Flight 1702 was headed to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The 149 passengers were forced to evacuate the plane, said a US Airways spokesman.
One passenger requested medical assistance, said airport spokeswoman Liz Landau.

A “ground stop” – an air traffic control measure aimed to slow incoming flights – was issued at the airport, said Landau.
A passenger told ABC News they have been taken inside a room in the airport where they are currently waiting for the airline to tell them what’s next.
