Short Selling Ban Expires
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) decision to prohibit short selling on a number of UK financial stocks expired on Friday 16 January 2009.
The FSA's temporary restrictions were imposed last September as a result of unprecedented turmoil in financial markets, resulting in a ban on creating or increasing a short position in 34 quoted banks, general insurance and life assurance companies.
The expiry of the ban means that as of Monday 19 January 2009 you are able to go long or short on a range of financial stocks.
